The Syrian civil war has been going one for a while now and has gotten very serious very quickly. Syria has seen a lot of civilian deaths and the most destructions ever recorded in history.
There are rebel camps in Syria that have been seriously targeted by the Syrian government and any attempts to bring this stalemate to an end has not born any fruits. But this is not happening and the end results are tons of detainees jailed unfairly and who are undergoing extreme physical, sexual and emotional abuse behind bars. The cities that were once outstanding in their life and beauty are now desolate and are covered with dead bodies and debris. There are hundreds if not thousands of refugees in the neighboring countries now who have nothing they can.
Iran on the other hand has been known to fund, train and offer weapons to militia and terror groups while harboring them on their soil. The country has declined any advice to stop doing so from the international community. It hasn’t come out too clearly why Iran is doing this but it is a badly kept secret. The US government has tried unsuccessfully to get involved in stopping these vices but without much luck. Iran has been arming itself for decades now and there are extremely heavy and high tech weapons in the country.
Since the start of the Syrian civil war, Iran has been in the forefront supporting the government under president Assad. The support given by the Iranian government went a long way to making sure that Assad’s regime stood and without this support, the government would have been overthrown very early. Iran has given Syria military support and training just to make sure that the government is not overturned. Iran has trained military groups both in Syria and in Lebanon who would join the war and be well-equipped to fight against the opposition rebels.
In the beginning, Iran only supported Syria by offering training for the regime forces. After a while, Iran escalated its support by actually sending their own troops to fight in the Syrian civil war. Apart from other types of weapons, Iran also provided chemical weapons for Syria. She has sent her scientists to Syria and even provided the chemicals needed to build these weapons.
Because the rebels have taken most of the Iranians cities and boundaries captive, Iran can only use the Syrian air corridor to get the arms into Syria. Iran and Syria have worked to create a safe corridor where they transport these arms. The US has authorized three airlines to transport these arms to Syria from Iran. Turkish authorities are said to have confiscated a truck which was headed for Syria and was full of weapons.
